Powerball jackpot soars to $719M, but a southern California player already won big

A Powerball ticket sold in southern California for Wednesday’s drawing matched all five numbers but missed the jackpot, worth $681 million.

Instead, the lucky ticketholder won $979,462, lottery officials said.

The winning numbers for the Nov. 26 drawing are 7, 8, 15, 19 and 28, with a Powerball of 3.

Where was the winning Powerball ticket sold in California?

The lucky ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven gas station at in Mission Viejo, lottery officials said. That’s about a 50-mile drive southeast from Los Angeles.

The California ticket wasn’t the only “Match 5” winner. Nationwide, four $1 million tickets were sold, including in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and South Carolina, the national Powerball site said.

What is the Powerball jackpot up to now?

Nobody won the Powerball jackpot, which has now risen to an estimated $719 million, with a cash value of about $336.3 million.

The jackpot was last won Sept. 6, when players in Missouri and Texas split the $1.787 billion grand prize.

How to play Powerball lottery game

To score a jackpot in the Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball. The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.

Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sale times and price vary by state.

When is the next Powerball drawing?

Powerball drawings are broadcast Saturday, Monday and Wednesday at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time and can be streamed online.

The next drawing will be Saturday, Nov. 29.

Powerball is played in 45 U.S. states and Washington, D.C., as well as Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
