Worker pees in Utah restaurant kitchen. A drive-thru customer caught it on video
Robert Talivakaola says he was trying to order food Sunday at the drive-thru at Rancherito’s Mexican Food, a restaurant chain in Utah, when he didn’t get a response.
Then, he pulled up to the window and saw a male employee urinating on the kitchen floor, according to ABC4 News.
Talivakaola started to record the incident on his phone. But the employee didn’t know he was being recorded, according to KSL TV.
“I popped my head up trying to get somebody’s attention in the window and I saw what you guys saw in the video that went viral,” he told KSL TV. “The dude was using the bathroom in the kitchen.”
Talivakaola said he filmed the video and posted it on social media to raise awareness.
“I was just like, ‘Man, nobody’s going to believe you!’ So I just pulled out my camera and started recording,” he told Fox 13. “He looked like he was pretty comfortable doing it… like he’s done it before.”
The Salt Lake County Health Department investigated a complaint and shut down the restaurant until it passes inspection, KSL TV reported.
“There’s a possibility of criminal charges, and that’s something that we are still discussing,” Nicholas Rupp, a spokesperson for the Salt Lake County Health Department, told Fox 13. “I was horrified. This is not appropriate behavior in a kitchen setting.”
The employee has also been fired, managers of the restaurant told ABC4.
“It makes us really sad, because that’s not who we are,” said Perla Lee, the restaurant owner, ABC4 reported.
