‘Penis Man’ caught after leaving behind rash of vulgar graffiti in Arizona, cops say
He called himself the “Penis Man” — over and over and over in graffiti strewn across Tempe, Arizona, in recent months, KNXV reported.
Now police say they’ve brought his vulgar tagging spree to an end, AZ Family reported.
Dustin Shomer, 38, faces charges including numerous counts of aggravated criminal damage, criminal damage and criminal trespassing, Tempe police say, The Arizona Republic reported.
The “Penis Man” moniker ended up on traffic poles, city dumpsters, electricity boxes and other places, KNXV reported. The city recorded 38 cases in November and December.
By January, the graffiti had spread to port-a-potties, Arizona State University dorms, businesses and a historic flour mill, Phoenix New Times reported. It also hit the front door of city hall.
“There is a street art and then there’s just being obnoxious, and I think that’s what that guy’s doing,” said resident Julia Rinklin, KNXV reported.
The persistent vandalism spree prompted Tempe police to open an active investigation, said detective Natalie Barela, Phoenix New Times reported.
A detective arrested Shomer about 5:30 p.m. Thursday and booked him into jail, The Arizona Republic reported.
