Student snuck through Brigham Young’s underground tunnels to steal food, cops say
A Brigham Young University student was arrested Tuesday after police said he broke into the school using the underground tunnel system and stole food.
Spencer Taylor, 19, faces burglary charges, according to Utah County Jail records.
A worker at the Culinary Support Center saw Taylor, “who was wearing a black mask and black clothing,” according to KUTV2. The building was already locked, the outlet reported.
Taylor was also caught on video with food in his hand before he went into the tunnels, KUTV2 reported, citing the police report.
He was identified through his residential building access card, according to The Daily Herald. Police said Taylor told them that he was the one who was caught in the Culinary Support Center, the outlet reported.
Taylor said that he used the tunnels three times in the last month to steal food, according to The Daily Herald.
He was released on $5,000 bail on Wednesday, according to jail records.
