Biden narrows gap with Sanders in CA; other candidates near crucial threshold, poll says
An updated poll shows former Vice President Joe Biden narrowing Sen. Bernie Sanders’ lead in the California Democratic presidential primary.
Sanders is still predicted to take home the most delegates from the Golden State with 31.2 percent, followed by Biden at 21.7 percent in an updated poll by FiveThirtyEight. Elizabeth Warren comes in third at 14.9 percent, followed by Michael Bloomberg at 14.7 percent.
The poll puts Warren and Bloomberg closer to the 15 percent minimum threshold to gain any delegates to the state after Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Pete Buttigieg and Tom Steyer dropped out after the South Carolina primary.
After Biden’s win in South Carolina, another poll saw him gain 7 points in a Point Blank Political survey, according to NBC.
A previous poll showed Sanders in the lead with 32 percent, followed by Biden at 14 percent, Warren at 13 percent and Bloomberg at 12 percent, The Sacramento Bee reported.
