Idris Elba says he’s tested positive for coronavirus, has been in isolation

Actor Idris Elba said on Twitter Monday afternoon he has tested positive for coronavirus.

Elba said he feels OK and has no symptoms after testing positive for covid-19 Monday morning.

“(I) have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus,” he said.

He did not say where he thinks he contracted the virus.

There are more than 4,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the US, according to Johns Hopkins University.

In a video he posted on Twitter, Elba urged people to not freak out, but he did stress the seriousness of the virus.

“Now is the time to really think about social distancing, washing your hands,” he said. “Beyond that, there are people out there who aren’t showing symptoms, and that can really spread it.”

Elba is most known for his roles In the HBO series “The Wire” and BBC One Series “Luther,” for which he won a Golden Globe award in 2012. In 2018, he was People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive.

Last week, Tom Hanks revealed he and his wife Rita Wilson also have coronavirus.
