Check out Tom Brady’s new Tampa home — a 30,000-foot mansion owned by Derek Jeter

Anything is possible in 2020. And when we say anything, we mean anything.

This includes a coronavirus pandemic suspending all college and professional sports and, of course, former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady escaping Bill Belichick’s shadow to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

And that two-year, $50 million contract he signed? Well, it appears to be well spent so far.

Moving to Florida might be a culture shock for the 42-year-old Brady, but he’ll have some nice digs to dwell in with his family.

Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reported that Brady is moving into a 30,000-square-foot mansion built by fellow University of Michigan alumnus Derek Jeter.

The home on Davis Islands in downtown Tampa comes with seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and an entertainment and billiards room, according to Stroud. It also has a pool that overlooks the water of Tampa Bay.

It’s also a stone-throw’s distance from the Bucs’ practice facility and Raymond James Stadium — if you can throw close to six miles.

Tampa sports radio host JP Peterson was the first to report on Brady moving into Jeter’s house on Wednesday.

While it may be strange for sports fans to see Brady decked out in Bucs colors, it’s good to know that he is excited about the change.

“This is an exciting moment for me in my life,” Brady said during his introductory conference call on March 24. “I’m kind of taking it day by day. The expectation is for me to come in and do what I feel is right for the organization and that’s to be a great team player.”

Jeter finished construction on the English Manor style house in 2011. The former New York Yankees shortstop lived in the house during spring training — the Yankees train in Tampa — before retiring after the 2014 season.

Jeter, now a non-controlling owner of the Miami Marlins, has since moved to South Florida. The locals nicknamed the Tampa home “St. Jetersburg” because of its proximity to St. Petersburg.

Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports noted that the mansion’s Davis Islands location is about as safe as it can get since it’s heavily patrolled. It features a six-foot opaque gate wall that Jeter had to get special approval from the city to construct after he discovered that fans could see into his home from the street.

It’s a place fit for a king. Or a Captain. Or even NFL royalty.
