Carjacker runs over 83-year-old man after stealing his car, Texas video shows
Police in Texas are searching for a person they say stole an 83-year-old man’s car before using it to run him over.
The man made a purchase at a Valero gas station in Houston the afternoon of June 28 before walking out of the building and starting his car, police said in a July 16 news release.
As he stood outside of his Toyota Camry smoking a cigarette, police said another man approached him and punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground.
Surveillance video shows the suspect getting in the driver’s seat before the man walks in front of the car in an effort to prevent the suspect from driving away, police said.
The car begins to move as the man backs away before it ultimately runs him over, the video shows. The car then stops and reverses out of frame as the man tries to pull himself off the ground.
The suspect returned to the convenience store later in the day and was caught on surveillance video, police said. He’s described as being between 20 and 30 years old, about 6’ 2” tall and wearing a black shirt and gray pants.
Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the suspect’s arrest or charging. He’s wanted for aggregated assault with a deadly weapon.
