Ocean Spray wows popular skateboarding TikTok user with surprise — a new set of wheels
What started out as a TikTok user’s seemingly carefree glide while listening to some classic rock and enjoying a little Ocean Spray caught the attention of the nation during a particularly stressful time.
Now, it’s nabbed the attention of the cranberry juice giant itself.
Last month, an Idaho man named Nathan Apodaca shared a video of him drinking Ocean Spray Cranberry Raspberry juice while casually riding a longboard — also known as a longboard skateboard — along a highway to the song “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac. Apodaca’s car had broken down while on his way to work, he told TMZ.
“My car, it just shuts off sometimes,” he told the outlet. “The battery, I don’t know what it is, just shuts off. I always have my longboard in there, in case I run out of gas or something.”
On Tuesday, Ocean Spray surprised Apodaca at his Idaho Falls home with a brand-new 2020 Nissan Frontier truck.
“This is from Ocean Spray to you. Thanks for keeping it positive. That truck is yours. All the Ocean Spray is yours,” an Ocean Spray representative said.
“No way!” said a surprised Apodaca. “That’s crazy.”
The viral video caused a domino effect of pure goodness on social media, and before long, everyone was getting in on what became known as #Dreamschallenge, which was folks mimicking Apodaca’s calming ride, including band co-founder Mick Fleetwood.
It also started a revival of the band’s 1977 No. 1 hit, according to Billboard. From Sept. 25 to Sept. 27 “Dreams” managed to hit 2.9 million on-demand U.S. streams and 3,000 digital download sales, Billboard reported.
Apodaca posted another video after receiving his truck — this time with him driving while sipping on his now massive supply of Ocean Spray.
