McDonald’s says it is showing its appreciation for educators by treating them to a free, hot breakfast.

Starting Monday, education workers can visit their local McDonald’s and get a “Thank You Meal” on the house, the fast food giant announced Friday. The deal is available to all teachers, administrators and school staff members who show a valid work ID at participating restaurants.

Teachers have their pick of an entree breakfast sandwich, hash browns and a drink. The freebie comes in a classic Happy Meal Box and can be picked up during breakfast hours from Oct. 11 to Oct. 15.

“Together with our Owner/Operators, we’re proud to serve the people who make our communities a better place, and this is an important time to say thank you to some of our everyday heroes,” Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald’s USA, said in a news release.

Entree choices include an Egg McMuffin, a Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit, or a Sausage Biscuit. To wash it all down, educators can choose a medium McCafe coffee — hot or iced — or a medium soft drink.

McDonald’s launched its “Thank You Meal” campaign during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, giving away 12 million free meals to healthcare workers and first responders working to combat the virus, according to Jennifer “JJ” Healan, vice president of U.S. marketing for McDonald’s.

“We wanted to build on that idea and thank our educators in our communities for all that they’ve been doing and what they do really every day,” Healan told USA TODAY.
