Fight over sports car ends with Jaguar owner shot to death, Georgia cops say

Authorities in Georgia are investigating after an argument over a luxury sports car ended in gunfire Sunday night.

A man was shot and killed outside Loca Luna, a popular tapas restaurant in Midtown Atlanta, just before 11:30 p.m., according to Atlanta police. Investigators said the deadly shooting stemmed from a fight between the owner of an orange Jaguar and a stranger who was leaning on the car.

Things escalated and the owner was shot in the chest, police said. He was taken to nearby hospital where he died.

Police have not released his identity.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from the restaurant to see what exactly led to the deadly encounter, WSB-TV reported. They’re also working to identify the shooter, who fled the scene.

The number of people possibly involved is also unclear.

“From my understanding, there were a few people out,” Atlanta Police Major D’Andrea Price told WAGA. “But is it a group, or is it a single assailant, I’m not sure it’s too early in the investigation to determine if it’s more than one assailant or not.”

Price added that the shooting “was deliberate and was targeted” due to the fight over the car, according to WXIA.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call 911 or the Atlanta Crime Stoppers at tip line at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
