A stunned Louisiana woman saw a man with face tattoos come out of her ceiling this week, and that wasn’t the worst of it.

Turns out the guy — with 20 prior arrests — had been “living in the attic” without her knowing it, according to the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The renter made the discovery Monday, as the suspect dropped to the floor of the apartment, police said in a news release. The home is on State Highway 101 in the unincorporated Lacassine community, about 60 miles west of Lafayette, officials said.

“The owner of the apartments called the sheriff’s office to report the incident,” officials said.

“One tenant was home and witnessed the subject drop from the attic area into her apartment. When the subject realized someone was home, he fled the apartment.”

The department identified the intruder as 33-year-old Gregory Bonnette. Details of how long he may have living in the attic were not released.

Investigators told station KPLC Bonnette has a relative living in the building, and he may have used that home as a way to access the crawl space and travel between apartments.

Bonnette was found and arrested “on two counts of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling,” officials said.

“This is the 21st incident where Bonnette has been arrested,” the department wrote.
