A 26-year-old drowned at a company party Dec. 8 after falling into a river, Oregon police said.

The woman, identified as Olivia Payne, was attempting to board a docked boat on the Columbia River when she fell into the water, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said.

When officials arrived at about 3 a.m., they found the woman unresponsive in the water. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy and determined the incident to be an accident and ruled the death as a drowning,” the sheriff’s office said.

A business at the location in Troutdale was hosting a company party at the time, officials said. Police did not identify the business.

Volunteers with the local trauma intervention program provided emotional support to people who were at the party, officials said.

Troutdale is about 16 miles east of Portland.
