Hunter plunges 40 feet and becomes trapped at the bottom of icy ravine, Utah cops say

A hunter was trapped at the bottom of an icy ravine after he plunged up to 40 feet, Utah rescuers said.

The 32-year-old man slipped and fell between 30 and 40 feet to the bottom of a ravine on Saturday, Dec. 11, the Weber County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team said.

He couldn’t climb his way out because the ravine was covered with ice and snow.

Rescuers responded to the foothills to help the man, and three climb teams rappelled into the ravine. They managed to pull the man to safety.

“Once out of the ravine, everyone made good time off the mountain including the hunter and his two dogs,” rescuers said on Facebook. “Fortunately, the man was not injured and was able to walk out on his own.”

Weber County is about 40 miles north of Salt Lake City.
