The body of 41-year-old Benjamin Anderson was found in the desert Friday, Dec. 31, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office told Fox 10.

Anderson was reported missing earlier that day after friends were concerned, the Arizona Republic reported.

The Phoenix man was last seen at his home in the morning, according to Fox 10.

One of Anderson’s friends found his apartment “in disarray” when he went to check on him, the Arizona Republic reported. Friends told AZ Family Anderson had his keys, phone and car with him, but he did not take any money.

The group of friends then tracked the man’s Lexus to a hotel parking garage and called 911, according to the Arizona Republic.

Police found Anderson’s car burned on Saturday, Jan. 1 near Interstate 17, Fox 10 reported. His body was found 30 miles north of his car, according to the Arizona Republic.

Police are investigating the case as a homicide, AZ Family reported.
