Chiefs fan’s tailgating tips on TikTok land him an appearance on Rachael Ray Show
The “King of Tailgating” has been sharing his secrets on TikTok and will soon be on national television to spread the word further.
This supposed tailgating mastermind is a Kansas City Chiefs fan who, after facing a heartbreaking disappointment during the Jan. 30 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, is bouncing back with a Feb. 1 appearance on the Rachael Ray Show.
Rod Herrenbruck, or as TikTok knows him, @tailgatingwithrod, has caught the attention of many football fans with his tailgating tips and enthusiasm for all things Chiefs.
Herrenbruck, a Wildwood resident, began seeing a following on the video app after the first Chiefs game of the season. He initially began posting TikToks after his daughter’s encouragement, Fox2Now reported.
A video sharing his technique to mark tailgating spots in the Chiefs’ lot has racked up 2.5 million views since its posting in September 2021.
Since then, Herrenbruck has been sharing his game day experience regularly, with videos ranging from showing off tailgating tattoos to a look at his family’s grab-and-go food spread, accompanied by what he deems the “game-changer” — an air fryer at the tailgate.
Some are trying to poach Herrenbruck away from the Chiefs to their own team.
“This dude is growing on me…BIG TIME,” wrote one user. “I think he belongs in the best Tailgating City in the Nation…BUFFALO.”
He’s even shown TikTok his family’s post-game tradition: the “Victory Plunge.”
Above all, Herrenbruck believes the best part of tailgating for his beloved team is spending time with friends and family, he told Fox2Now.
“The key to a successful tailgate is all the friends you make,” he yelled above the game-day rush of fans in a Sept. 17 TikTok.
Although the Chiefs’ season is over, he will be able to share his recipe ideas, tailgate dancing and grill tips on the Rachael Ray Show, which called him the King of Tailgating.”
Herrenbruck told Fox2Now he was “surprised” the food-centered talk show wanted to book him, but he’s happy they decided to showcase a relatable Midwesterner.
