24-year-old California woman missing for days. Her car was found with key in ignition
A California woman has been missing for a week, police said. Her car was found with the key still in the ignition.
Alexis Gabe, a 24-year-old woman from Oakley, was reported missing “under suspicious circumstances” on Thursday, Jan. 27, the Oakley Police Department said.
The police department said searching for Gabe has been its top priority for the past week.
“The OPD has taken all measures available to locate Alexis. We have found several images and videos that may assist us,” police said Monday, Jan. 31, on Facebook. “We are examining those pieces of information on an ongoing basis.”
Gabe didn’t return home Jan. 26 and was last seen at an ex-boyfriend’s home, KTVU reported. Volunteers and police have been searching the area and asking for information, NBC Bay Area reported.
Her car was found with its doors open and the key still in the ignition, police told NBC Bay Area.
“The more time that goes by obviously the more unsettled we are,” Gabe’s sister-in-law Morgan Strenfel told the NBC station. “The way we found her car is extremely unusual.”
Police are searching for the person who may have abandoned the car in the area.
Officials told NBC Bay Area security footage from nearby shows someone get out of Gabe’s car and start walking at about 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 26.
“Abandoned, keys in the ignition, door unlocked, and no sign of her,” Strenfel told KRON 4. “So that’s when things got pretty serious.”
Police described Gabe as a 5-foot-7-inch tall Asian woman who was last seen wearing a white tank top, a silver or black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and green or white shoes.
“Please report any credible sightings of Gabe, or any information that will lead to her discovery by calling the Oakley Police Department at 925-625-8060,” police said.
