‘---- Putin’ shots are act of solidarity with Ukraine at Texas bar. Here’s the recipe

A bar in Texas pulled Russian spirits from its shelves and is serving “F--- Putin” shots in solidarity with Ukraine as the country fights off Russia’s invasion.

“During war or global events we often feel helpless as tragedy unfolds,” Alexandre’s shared to Facebook. “While we understand pulling a bottle off the wall or serving shots won’t end this war, using our skill-sets and committing small acts of solidarity can create a more unified community response to such actions.

“So, in solidarity with Ukrainians and the anti-war protestors of Russia, we wanted to do what Alexandre’s does best: create a cocktail and raise a glass in hopes of a quick and peaceful end to this conflict and to build a world where war is never an option.”

The Dallas bar revealed its “F--- Putin” shot and its “sanctions” on Russian alcohol Friday, Feb. 25. As seen in a photo accompanying the post, the shots had a stripe of bright blue above a stripe of yellow, representing the flag of Ukraine.

“Needless to say the post got immediate attention and here’s where things got interesting. Layered shots are fun to photograph, but rarely taste good,” the bar said. “Knowing there would be people incoming, we needed something better to actually serve if we were going to do this.”

To ensure people would enjoy drinking “F--- Putin” shots, the bar worked with a mixologist to create a better-tasting recipe that showcased Ukraine’s national colors. That recipe was served all weekend, and Alexandre’s says proceeds of the “F--- Putin” shots served the week of Feb. 27 will be donated to “a Ukrainian humanitarian and refugee cause.”

If you are unable to make it to Alexandre’s, the cocktail bar has shared its recipe.

“May we raise our glasses in international solidarity and condemn war in any place,” the bar shared on Facebook.

‘F--- Putin’ shot recipe

To make this shot, you will need two shaker tins, a shot glass, a spoon, Jumex Mango Nectar, peach schnapps, Kruto vodka, Blue Curaçao and ice.

In one shaker, dry shake 0.5 ounces of Jumex Mango Nectar and 0.5 ounces of peach schnapps.

In your second shaker, shake together 1.5 ounces of Kruto vodka and 0.5 ounces of Blue Curaçao.

Once you have shaken both mixtures, pour the first shaker into the shot glass. Follow this by slowly pouring the second shaker into the shot glass over the back of a spoon.
