Woman thought to be kidnapped by boyfriend is arrested and charged, Alabama cops say
A south Alabama woman believed kidnapped by her boyfriend wasn’t abducted after all, according to the Mobile Police Department.
Marlene French, 50, was arrested April 10 after she allegedly aided her boyfriend, Dominque Thornton, and “hindered the prosecution of his arrest,” police said in a news release. The charge comes after it was initially thought that French had been physically assaulted and forced into a gray sedan in a possible kidnapping earlier that morning.
Police did not say who initially reported the alleged incident.
“The investigation determined that the victim, Marlene French, was not kidnapped,” the department said in a statement. “However, Ms. French was aware that the subject Dominque Thornton had several outstanding felony warrants.”
She was booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail on one count of first-degree hindering prosecution, online records show. Thornton was also arrested on several charges, including robbery, credit card fraud and third-degree domestic violence.
