A 22-year-old died after falling from a moving car in South Carolina, officials said.

The woman was sitting on the open passenger’s side window of a Chevrolet when she “spilled onto” the road on Saturday, April 9, according to S.C. Highway Patrol.

The passenger was rushed to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. She was identified in a news release as Mahogany Syvadda Beasley.

State troopers said the incident unfolded just after midnight on Worley Road, roughly 2 miles north of Greenville. The driver of the Chevrolet wasn’t hurt.

As of the afternoon of April 9, officials said the case was still under investigation.

An external examination determined Beasley died from “multiple blunt force injuries due to” falling from a vehicle in motion, the Greenville County Coroner’s office said in a news release. Her manner of death was listed as accidental.
