Family finds woman dead floating on her back in hotel hot tub, Utah cops say
Family members found a woman floating on her back and dead in a Utah hotel hot tub, authorities said.
Deputies were called to the Best Western in Coalville shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office said. A 56-year-old woman from Laramie, Wyoming, was found floating on her back, deputies said.
“A family member saw the woman moving around in the hot tub around 6:30 a.m.,” deputies told McClatchy News. “Sometime around 7a.m., family members went by the hot tub area again and noticed the woman was floating on her back and was not moving.”
The family members called for help and told deputies the woman “had extensive health issues.” The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Utah Medical Examiner’s Office will determine a cause of death, but deputies said it’s possible the woman drowned.
Deputies are investigating the incident. They did not publicly disclose the woman’s name.
Best Western did not respond to McClatchy News’ request for comment.
