Car with 4 passengers plunges 120 feet off California cliff, cops say. ‘Horrific scene’
A car carrying four people crashed through a fence and plummeted more than 100 feet off a California cliff, police said.
The four occupants were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, San Francisco police said. A 23-year-old man, a 22-year-old woman, a 19-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl were in the car.
The San Francisco Police Department responded to the crash around 2:43 a.m. on Friday, May 6, near the Sutro Baths.
The car had been traveling north on Point Lobos Avenue when it crossed over the center lane, drove through the fence and landed 120 feet below the cliffside, police said.
San Francisco District 1 Supervisor Connie Chan called the incident a “horrific scene” on Twitter.
It’s unclear how fast the driver was going, the San Francisco Fire Department said in a tweet.
The car has been recovered, police said.
Police are investigating the incident, and no arrests have been made.
