A family’s house in Illinois is nearly destroyed after a pickup truck came barreling through, entering on one side and exiting on the other, news outlets reported.

The home was gutted, a trail of brick, wood and furniture strewn onto the lawn, leading to where the truck finally stopped, video of the aftermath of the May 27 wreck shows.

“It was strange because there wasn’t any screeching, no squealing, no honking,” neighbor Mickey Bravo told WLS, though the sound of the afternoon crash itself was plain to hear.

Luckily, the couple living in the Downers Grove home were in the basement — otherwise they may have been directly in the path of the pickup, WBBM reported.

“I did not realize the extent of the damage until I walked out on my deck and started seeing more and more and more and more,” Bravo told the TV station.

The couple were unharmed, but the damage to their home is so extensive that it is unsafe to stay, according to WLS.

A man and a woman were inside the pickup truck, officials told WGN. Both were taken to a hospital.

Investigators believe the man behind the wheel was suffering a medical issue that caused him to lose control and veer into the home, the outlet reported.
