Man breaks into cabins, threatens RV park manager with stolen shotgun, Oregon cops say
A 26-year-old man who was kicked out of a rodeo is accused of breaking into cabins, assaulting residents and stealing a shotgun at an Oregon resort, police said.
Troopers responded to multiple reports of an intoxicated man around 10:17 p.m. on June 11 at a Camp Sherman campground, Oregon State Police said in a release.
The man had been booted from a rodeo in Sisters before he wandered to the campground, police said. Then he went to the Cold Springs Resort and RV Park and broke into a cabin where he assaulted a couple inside, police said.
He went to another cabin and the resident pulled out a shotgun on him, police said, but the assailant grabbed the resident’s loaded firearm and left.
A manager at the resort stopped the man from breaking into a third cabin and got the weapon from him, police said. Police said he caused about $2,000 in damage during the attempted break-in.
Sean Brabham of Willamina was arrested without incident on several charges, including burglary, assault, robbery, criminal mischief, menacing and harassment, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and attempted burglary.
Camp Sherman is about 38 miles northwest of Bend.
