Body found near Lake Mead in the Nevada desert, police say. Investigation underway

A man was found dead in the desert over the weekend, Nevada police said.

The body was found with “signs of trauma” in an area west of Lake Mead Boulevard and the 215 Beltway on Sunday, June 19, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a news release.

The LVMPD Homicide Section is investigating the death, police said. Officials haven’t released the victim’s name or cause of death as on June 21.

Another person died over the weekend on Lake Mead, officials said, when a boater drowned June 18 on the lake’s South Cove after a strong gust of wind caused the boat to start sinking.
