Watch cop hold alligator by the snout as he releases it into Georgia lake

Handcuffs wouldn’t work on this trespasser in Georgia.

The Kingsland Police Department were called to help a person who found an alligator sunbathing on their porch the morning of June 29, according to a news release from the department.

“One of our residents had an uninvited guest this morning!” the department said on Facebook, sharing pictures and a video of the gator. “With the assistance of Dale Taylor from planning and zoning, Officer Thornton caught the gator and released him or her in the St Mary’s River to enjoy the rest of their day.”

Video of the encounter shows the officer wrangling the alligator on a boat ramp with his bare hands and heaving him toward the water with a small chuckle.

The gator pauses, mouth open, then fussily makes its way into the water, disappearing with a splash.

“You’re one brave cop,” someone commented on Facebook.

Kingsland is about 107 miles south of Savannah.
