A motorcyclist died in a single-vehicle crash on a Florida highway, but his motorcycle was not at the scene when officials arrived, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers responded to the crash just before midnight on July 3 on the John Young Parkway in Orlando, according to a news release from the agency.

Orlando is about 240 miles north of Miami.

First responders brought the 35-year-old man from Orlando to a hospital, where he died, according to the release.

The motorcycle was missing from the crash site when troopers arrived, and officials say someone removed it.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Officials are asking anyone with information about the crash to call Florida Highway Patrol at 407-737-2213.
