A 42-year-old woman was found clinging to a stop sign in rushing floodwaters in an Arizona wash, authorities said.

A construction crew reported seeing a woman trapped in waist-deep waters around 5 p.m. on Monday, July 25, in Golden Valley, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team said in a Facebook post.

Photos show the woman with both arms wrapped around the stop sign pole.

Rescuers helped walk the woman from the wash once the water receded, deputies said, and they said the woman was “lucky.”

“Search and Rescue wants to remind everyone to not enter travel through flooded roadways. Turn Around Don’t Drown!” the department said.

Monsoon season in Arizona has brought flash floods to counties across the state.

A Flash Flood Watch was issued for the area from 2:47 a.m. on July 26 until 5 a.m. on July 27 as more storms are expected, according to the National Weather Service.

Golden Valley is in Mohave County, which is the northwestern corner of Arizona. The area is about 100 miles southeast of Las Vegas.
