A Texas woman is hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a hit-and-run driver, moments after she crashed along a highway, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

The 30-year-old was driving along Interstate Highway 35 around 3 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, when she swerved to avoid hitting a bicyclist, according to an SAPD news release. She apparently lost control and crashed into a guardrail on the left side of the road.

Her car was disabled, police said.

She got out of the vehicle and was hit by another car.

The driver of that car didn’t stop to help, police said, and kept driving northbound on I-35.

The woman was taken to a hospital by ambulance and was listed in critical but stable condition, according to the release.

Police are searching for the driver of a silver sedan, who is facing a charge of failure to stop and render aid.
