A 10-year-old Georgia boy died two days after a late-night house fire that also killed his grandfather, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

Brannon Harvey died from his injuries Thursday, Sept. 1, at Doctors Hospital of Augusta, deputies said. The sheriff’s office learned of his death on Friday.

The boy was hospitalized after a fire broke out at his family’s home in Gainesville just before 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30, according to a news release. His grandfather, 66-year-old Joe Boggs, died shortly after he was taken to a hospital.

Authorities said four people, two adults and two children, were inside the home at the time of the fire. The other adult and child made it out safely and were treated for minor injuries at a hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Gainesville is about 60 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta.
