Puppies named after Backstreet Boys meet the band members, shelter says. See the photos
A litter of puppies came face to face with their famous namesakes after an animal shelter named them after members of the Backstreet Boys, according to a Tennessee adoption organization.
The pop boy band, which rose to chart-topping stardom in the ’90s, met the puppies while in town for a Sept. 8 tour stop of its 10th studio album, “DNA.” The Nashville Humane Association said in a Facebook post that the litter was invited to visit the group and help with “a special production shoot.”
The post and photos, which feature the real-life Brian, Nick, AJ, Howie and Kevin with the shelter’s correspondingly named shepherd-mix puppies, have more than 1,700 shares and hundreds of comments on Facebook as of Sept. 14.
“This is the best thing on the internet,” said one commenter. “I don’t know why I’m crying but I am,” said another.
A sixth puppy in the litter, not pictured, was named “Millennium,” after one of the band’s albums. The shelter is encouraging people to adopt the puppies, and according to its website, Howie, AJ and Nick are still available.
McClatchy News reached out to the Nashville Humane Association and the Backstreet Boys’ team but did not immediately receive responses.
“As you can see from the photos in this post, the experience was Larger Than Life for all involved,” the shelter said. “We are so grateful for this superstardom support towards raising adoption awareness for some adorable 9–10-week-old shepherd mix shelter pups!”
