Blind dog got trapped in 15-foot hole. Watch California firefighters come to the rescue

A dog that is blind stumbled into deep trouble at a construction site by his home in Pasadena, California, authorities said.

Cesar the dog fell into a 15-foot deep, 3-foot wide hole Tuesday, Sept. 20, after he wandered onto the site, the dog’s owner told ABC7 Eyewitness News.

Firefighters from multiple departments teamed up to rescue the 13-year-old dog, Pasadena Fire Department wrote in a tweet. Video they posted of the rescue shows one member of the team descending into the hole on a rope and emerging later with Cesar strapped into a harness.

The entire rescue effort took 13 minutes, the department tweeted.

Cesar was apparently not injured, “shook off a heavy coat of construction dirt and dust” and was reunited with his owners at the scene, according to ABC7. The dog’s owner told the outlet she realized Cesar wasn’t in her yard anymore when her other dog barked — and Cesar barked back from afar.
