Two men have been arrested and face charges over a week after an unidentified woman’s body was found set ablaze on a trail in California, prosecutors said.

Ashton Montalvo, 32, and Deangelo Laraye Boone, 39, face arson and mutilation charges in the death of the woman, who has since been identified as 25-year-old Mykaella Sharlman, according to an Oct. 26 news release from the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.

Sharlman’s body was first discovered on fire on the Mokelumne Trail, a bike and pedestrian trail, at 5:36 a.m. on Oct. 17, in Antioch, the city police department said.

Police initially asked the public for help identifying her body with jewelry that was found with her remains because her body was severely burned. The coroner’s office then identified her through dental records on Oct. 24, police said in a news release.

Antioch is about 45 miles northeast of San Francisco.
