70-year-old who dreamed of winning Powerball prize finally does. ‘Complete shock’
A 70-year-old woman who has regularly played the Powerball now knows what it feels like to win, according to Michigan Lottery officials.
Joyce Ewald of St. Clair Shores bought her ticket for the Nov. 5 drawing online at MichiganLottery.com with numbers 28-45-53-56-69 PB:20, officials said in a Dec. 5 news release.
With those numbers, Ewald matched four white balls and the Powerball, officials said, qualifying her for a $50,000 prize.
And because Ewald added on the Power Play, her winnings were multiplied by three for winnings worth $150,000, according to the release.
“I play Powerball regularly and have always dreamt of winning big,” said Ewald. “When I checked the numbers online after the drawing and saw I’d won a $150,000 prize, I was in complete shock. Winning is such a wonderful feeling!”
Ewald plans to save her newfound cash, officials said. After taxes, she took home about $108,000.
