Buck wanders into icy ditch — and gets stuck until a pickup truck saves it, video shows
A buck wandered into an icy concrete drainage ditch in Colorado and couldn’t get out without help from a pickup truck, a video shows.
The deer was found trapped in a ditch on the west side of Colorado Springs, the Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s Southeast Region said in a Tuesday, Dec. 6, tweet.
“This buck was stuck! Fortunately, CPW came to the rescue,” officials said in the tweet.
The buck was sedated and placed in a blue tarp.
A pickup truck pulled the buck up the ledge of the ditch as another wildlife officer walked behind the animal, assisting it up, the video shows.
“Deer walk into these concrete drainage ditches and sometimes they cannot get out, especially in winter,” officials said.
This buck had been handled by wildlife officers before. Its ear had a tag in it from a previous encounter, officials said.
Once the deer was pulled out of the ditch, it “walked off on its own into better habitat,” officials said.
