The new year is off to an unbelievable start for Virginia resident Hunter Johnson after she won big in the lottery.

“It feels unreal,” the college student told lottery officials in a Jan. 11 news release.

Johnson heard her friends mention the Virginia New Year’s Millionaire Raffle and decided to grab a few tickets for the first time, according to lottery officials.

On Jan. 1, she learned that she won $100,000.

“We were screaming and jumping in the air,” she told lottery officials.

Johnson, who studies business management, bought her lucky ticket at a 7-Eleven in Gloucester, lottery officials said.

There were seven $100,000 prizes in the game, according to the Virginia lottery.

Gloucester is about 60 miles east of Richmond.
