Lineman FaceTimed daughter before he was killed clearing storm debris, GA family says

While working to clear tornado debris Friday night, lineman Jesse Maxwell FaceTimed his 4-year-old daughter to say goodnight, his wife, Hope Maxwell, said in a Facebook post.
Shortly after, he was killed when a limb hit him in the back of the head, his family said, according to WSBTV. He leaves behind a wife and four young children.
Maxwell, 32, was removing fallen trees to restore power on January 13 when he died, his family said.
The Maxwells have an 11-year-old son, a 7-year-old daughter, a 6-year-old daughter and a 4-year-old daughter, according to a GoFundMe for the family.
One of his last acts was talking to one of his daughters at bedtime, Hope Maxwell posted.
“River isn’t use to not having her daddy home for bed time,” she posted. “Of course she has to sleep in one of his shirts for bed tonight so they can match. Thank you for working so hard babe and for being so selfless.”
Jesse Maxwell is remembered as “a man of God father” and “amazing husband to Hope and father to four children,” one friend wrote in a Facebook post.
“The love he had for them was truly one of a kind,” she wrote. “He was also a great friend & is already missed by so many.”
“I need you more than you will ever know. But I know you are joking with Jesus,” Hope Maxwell wrote in a post. “You will forever be my hero and I will love you until my last breath.”
“One thing is for certain, when God took Jesse home, he got one hell of an Angel,” another friend posted.
On Thursday, Jan. 12, Georgia went under a state of emergency ahead of tornado warnings in north and central Georgia. Two other people, including a 5-year-old and a Department of Transportation employee, were also killed following the storms, according to WXIA.
Jasper County is about 60 miles southeast of Atlanta.
