A man’s craving for a chicken dinner led him to a convenience store in Maryland and then home with a winning jackpot lottery ticket.

The man in Elkridge, who chose to remain anonymous and go by the nickname “Buzzsaw,” stopped for dinner on Feb. 6 and had enough money leftover to buy four Multi-Match tickets for $2 each, lottery officials said in a Wednesday, Feb. 8, news release.

The man, who told lottery officials he buys tickets for eight of out 10 drawings in the game, thought the Feb. 6 drawing was going to be an “off day” but changed his mind.

He went to bed later that night but couldn’t sleep.

“I usually don’t wake up at night,” he told the lottery agency.

So he checked his phone to see if he won any prizes from the lottery tickets he had bought earlier that day and discovered he had won the $750,000 jackpot.

“I said, ‘Darn, that’s all six. I never won this kind of money before in my life,’” he told lottery officials.

He then went to the lottery office in Baltimore on Feb. 7 to get his prize.

“It was all about the chicken,” he told the lottery agency about his win.

He plans to use the money to vacation in the mountains in Western Maryland. He also wants to use some of the money to buy a home with his son.

When asked if he’ll keep playing the Multi-Match game, he replied: “Yeah! Heavens to Betsy, yes! I’m not giving up!”
