Chihuahua has ‘few screws loose,’ SC adoption agency says. You ‘up for the challenge?’

A Chihuahua with a “wall-eyed gaze” and “a few screws loose” is up for adoption in South Carolina.

The Anderson County PAWS shelter described this “crazed” dog in a brutally honest post on its Facebook page.

“We’re never quite sure what he’s thinking, if he is at all,” says the post, dated April 4. “What we are sure of, however, is that Sporty is the textbook definition of a Chihuahua.”

The 9-year-old Sporty may not always be “vibing” with everyone, and at times, may release his “inner Chihuahua demon” and attack someone’s shoe, but he does occasionally choose people he trusts, the post says.

“... those people can easily pet and play with him, pick him up and give him kisses and cuddles without any issues,” the post says. “So, he’s very much capable of love!”

Although many people don’t want a high-energy dog “with a thousand-yard stare” in their home, adoption officials said they’re sure that there’s “someone out there who would love Sporty.”

People in the comments of the shelter’s Facebook post seem to agree, with many wishing the small dog luck finding a new home and others saying simply “I want him.”

“Tell me this ain’t my kinda dog. Wild and spunky. I bet he’s got crazy zoomies,” one commenter wrote.

Anderson County PAWS is located in Anderson, about 120 miles northwest of Columbia. The agency has dozens of other dogs and cats available for adoption on its website, if Sporty isn’t your speed.

Chihuahuas are known for their “loyalty, charm, and big-dog attitude” despite their small stature, according to the American Kennel Club.
