School choir’s rendition of national anthem brings DC crowd to standstill, video shows
High school students brought viewers to tears with a moving rendition of the national anthem while on a school trip to Washington, D.C..
Members of the Hewitt-Trussvile High School Husky Band and chamber choir traveled from Trussville, Alabama, up to the nation’s capital to walk and perform in the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade on April 15, according to their Facebook page.
While enjoying the sights the next day, seven members of the chamber choir stopped in the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.
They stood in a circle in the rotunda, and they started to sing.
In a now viral video, tourists and visitors to the memorial stopped in their tracks as the choir sang ”The Star-Spangled Banner,” their voices filling the grand space.
“Our Chamber Choir students curated a beautiful moment for everyone at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial,” the band said when it posted the video.
The impromptu performance may be the one of the last together for many of the students, six of whom are seniors and will be graduating in the coming weeks, WPMI reported.
Trussville is about 15 miles northeast of Birmingham.
