6-year-old with an ‘old soul’ shows off endearing morning routine. Just don’t rush him

Alissa Holder presses record as someone in front of the camera takes a sip out of a piping hot mug. His collar is popped at the back of his neck and he’s reading a book. A finished bowl of cereal is pushed to the edge of the table.

Despite the mature routine, the person sitting at the table isn’t an adult. He’s not even a teen — it’s Holder’s 6-year-old son, Ayaan.

“I look over to see Ayaan just casually drinking his lemon & honey tea, and reading a new book,” Holder said on her Instagram video, which has more than 350,000 likes. “At first I laughed. Because…who does he think he is?”

Viewers got a kick out of the child’s routine, too.

“Whose 55 year old daddy is trapped in this baby?” one person joked. “Love this.”

“He looks like he’s got himself a healthy 401k,” another viewer commented.

“This child has a high 700 credit score,” a third added. “Love the responsibility.”

Holder and her family live in New York and Ayaan’s morning routine is finished by about 7 a.m., she told viewers.

“Ayaan likes his alone time, and he also enjoys a calm and relaxing morning. He does not like to be rushed,” Holder told TODAY. “So I’ll get him up early, and he’ll use the extra time to do a quiet activity.”

The 6-year-old also doesn’t skip his daily skincare routine that includes lotion and face oil, Holder told TODAY.

“He is an old soul who has been here before,” a viewer commented on Holder’s Instagram post.
