Train crash kills pastor’s two daughters and hospitalizes his son, Arkansas cops say

A pastor and his family were involved in a deadly train collision that left their Arkansas church community grief-stricken, according to multiple reports.

As the family was driving over Union Pacific Railroad tracks on May 25, its car collided with a train, according to THV11.

The train reportedly pushed the car about 2,400 feet before coming to a rest, according to the outlet.

The pastor’s two daughters were pronounced dead at the scene, and the pastor and his son were airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries, according to SNBC13. His wife was not in the car at the time of the accident.

The pair are in stable condition, according to a May 26 statement from the church’s El Paso location, which is about 35 miles north of Little Rock.

“We are devastated by yesterday’s tragic events,” the church said in the statement posted on Facebook, adding that the family “will need our prayers and support even more in the coming days and months.”

State police, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the railroad are investigating the crash, according to KATV.

Representatives for the three organizations did not immediately respond to requests for comment from McClatchy News.
