‘Lucky’ mom has won lottery prizes before — but none like her latest win. ‘I screamed’
Some couples go on weekly date nights to the movies. Some make dinner together every week. But for one Maryland couple, their weekly ritual is playing scratch-offs together.
“Playing the lottery is fun,” the 51-year-old wife and mom from Gaithersburg told lottery officials in a June 8 Maryland Lottery news release. “I love playing scratch-offs.”
With all the tickets the couple has played, the woman said she has won lots of small prizes.
“I always (find) myself winning and I consider myself lucky,” she told officials.
Recently, the mom of two stopped at 7-Eleven to grab a few items — including a few scratch-off tickets, according to officials.
Among the tickets was a $50,000 Cash instant ticket, which brought the woman her biggest prize yet, officials said. She won a $50,000 top prize.
“I screamed because I couldn’t believe it. I was so happy,” she said.
After scratching her ticket outside of her house when she got home from the store, the woman ran inside to tell her husband and daughters about her huge win, she told officials.
“They all really consider it a blessing,” she said.
Now, the mom will use her prize to buy herself a new car, she told officials.
Gaithersburg is about 20 miles northwest of Washington, D.C.
