Child, teen and woman die after her brother’s truck hits them head-on, New York cops say
A man driving along a road in western New York crossed over into the opposite lane and slammed into his sister’s car, killing her and two young passengers, police said.
The 21-year-old’s truck collided head-on into his 24-year-old sibling’s vehicle the afternoon of June 17 on Freedom Road in the Town of Freedom, according to New York State Police. The collision is under investigation.
A 6-year-old and 17-year-old inside the sister’s car were declared dead at the crash site, police said in a June 18 news release.
The sister later died at Erie County Medical Center after being airlifted to the facility along with a third passenger, a 4-year-old, according to authorities.
The condition of the child, who has severe injuries, is unknown as of the afternoon of June 19.
A 19-year-old passenger riding in the brother’s truck was also severely injured in the crash and airlifted to a hospital, police said. His condition is also unknown as of June 19.
The 21-year-old driver received treatment for his injuries at the crash scene before he was taken to state police headquarters in Warsaw and evaluated, authorities said.
McClatchy News contacted a state police spokesman inquiring about updates on June 19 and is awaiting a response.
It wasn’t specified whether the passengers in the brother’s and sister’s vehicles were related to the siblings.
Freedom is about 50 miles southeast of Buffalo.
