WATCH: One fan pinpoints perfection during San Jose Earthquakes kicking competition

The San Jose Earthquakes hosted the Portland Timbers in what ended as a 0-0 match, but one amazing goal was registered during the the halftime kick contest.

The Earthquakes shared a video on social media showing three fans pulled into the penalty box where they were asked to attempt kicks to land a ball on the field’s center mark.

The first fan pulled the ball far right of the mark. The second contestant was much closer to the target — so close, in fact, that a win looked secured. But then the third kicker accomplished the improbable, with the ball coming to a slow stop just on top of the center mark. The perfect kick stunned viewers on social media.

“San Jose has to sign him after this,” said one fan.

“Please tell me that guy won a million dollars for this,” said another.

The now-viral clip has amassed more than 3 million views since being posted Sunday.

The fan was unidentified, and the winning prize was not publicized. But the Earthquakes had a simple plea when they shared the video on Twitter: “Hey @SportsCenter do your thing.”
