After receiving reports of a “gross” smell coming from an alley, police made a gruesome discovery, Arizona officials told news outlets.

At 2:30 p.m. on June 28, police responded to an alley in Phoenix after receiving reports of “unknown trouble,” according to 12 News.

The caller also told 911 they “smelled something gross coming from” a bag, CBS 5 reported.

When cops arrived at the scene, they found a bag in the alley containing human remains, according to FOX 10 Phoenix.

Police received similar tips the day before discovering the dismembered body “but didn’t find anything suspicious” at the time, CBS 5 reported.

Officials said the victim has not been identified and no arrests have been made, according to ABC 15.

Anyone with information is asked to leave an anonymous tip by calling Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS, according to FOX 10 Phoenix.
