An 85-year-old was run over and killed by his car as it rolled away, police in Georgia say.

It happened at about 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at a home in Atlanta’s Buckhead community, according to the city’s police department.

Officers arrived to find the man “not alert, conscious or breathing,” police said in a preliminary report.

Investigators believe the man parked his car and noticed it started to roll backward. He tried getting back in the vehicle to brake, police say, but fell and was run over.

The man died at the scene, police say. Authorities didn’t release his name.

Additional information wasn’t immediately available.
