Tactical team rescues fun-loving dog that got paw stuck in bathtub drain, photos show
A fun bath turned into a dilemma for a dog when his paw got stuck in the tub’s drain. His owner ended up calling in the rescue experts to help the pup in quite a predicament.
Boston, a 9-year-old Schnauzer, was taking a bath around 10:15 a.m. Sept. 28. His owner said he was letting the water from the bathtub faucet run over his tail, something he liked, according to a Facebook post by the Indianapolis Fire Department.
“Unfortunately, Boston’s right foot kicked the bathtub plug out of the way and his right rear paw slipped into the drain,” the post said.
Boston’s owner tried to get his paw out, but was not successful, according to the post. He called 911 and said Boston “had been stuck for a couple hours.”
Fire crews arrived and attempted to free Boston, but had to call for backup. A tactical team was called to help. Within 40 minutes they were able remove his paw by “gingerly snipping the metal crossmembers inside the drain,” according to the post.
“This was not an easy feat, (no pun intended) as the scared pup’s foot took up most of the room in the drain and snips pushed against his already sore paw,” the post said.
Officials say Boston was ”right back to normal” as if nothing happened, and his paw had no injuries.
