Just how lucky is the No. 7? Just ask one particular Missouri Lottery player.

The man from Vernon County already won $77 on a Triple Red 777 ticket when he decided to purchase more tickets at a store in Nevada, Missouri.

He bought seven more tickets on that second purchase — and won big, Missouri Lottery officials said in a Tuesday, Oct. 10, news release.

This time, he was a $77,777 winner.

“I took my glasses off and rubbed my eyes because I thought I was seeing double,” he told Missouri Lottery officials.

Triple Red 777 costs $10 to play and offers a top prize of $777,777. There is one unclaimed jackpot prize and four unclaimed $77,777 tickets.

Vernon County is along the state’s border with Kansas and is about 100 miles south of Kansas City.
