The family of a 14-year-old girl hit and killed by a train in Oklahoma is “devastated.”

Icelee Prestel was walking across train tracks around 9 p.m. Oct. 16 in Moore with another girl when she was struck by an Amtrak passenger train, according to KFOR.

“We are devastated RIP Icelee mom and dad love you with all our heart and you will [be] greatly missed,” Prestel’s dad Kenneth Myers wrote in a Facebook post.

The train was carrying 91 passengers from Fort Worth to Oklahoma City, according to KOCO.

“I was a passenger on that train. Us passengers were all very devastated. Mr Kenny I’m sending you & your family healing & positive vibes in this time,” one person wrote on Facebook.

Icelee was an eighth-grader at Moore Public Schools, according to KOCO.

“The Moore Public Schools family grieves the untimely passing of Central Junior High student Icelee Prestel, and our deepest sympathies are with her family,” district officials said in a statement to KOKI. “She will be deeply missed by her Central Cubs classmates and teachers. Members of the MPS mental health team will be at Central Junior High this week to assist students and staff as they begin to process this tremendous loss.”

None of the train’s passengers were injured, according to an Amtrak spokesperson, KFOR reported.

“These incidents can affect everyone involved—those who are injured or die and their families, our train crews, and our passengers. They also serve as critical reminders about the importance of obeying the law and of exercising extreme caution around railroad tracks and crossings,” the spokesperson told the news outlet.
